Once you have been accepted
as a Seneca student, you will take an English Skills Assessment.
(This is not the same test you may have done when you
first applied to your program.) Book an appointment as soon as possible
at 416-491-5050 Ext. 6868. The English Skills Assessment will
determine if you are:
a) granted exemption from EAC 150 (College English) or,
b) required to take EAC 150 or,
c) required to take EAC 149 before you can take EAC 150, or
d) required to register in EAP200, EAP300 or EAP330 (English for Academic Purposes) before you can take EAC149 and EAC150.

you need to complete
EAC 150 (College English)
or be granted exemption on the basis of your English
Skills Assessment. To graduate, you need to complete EAC150 (College English) or be granted exemption on the basis of your English Skills Assessment. Most diploma programs also require one Business Communications or Technical Writing course.
ELECTIVES:
Depending on your program, you must take three or four elective subjects before you can graduate. Generally, students do not take electives during their first semester. Electives are classified in two streams: Literature and Liberal Studies. To graduate from a diploma program, you must take at least one literature elective(designated EAC or SES) and at least one liberal studies elective from any of the following areas: Cultural Studies, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, Canadian Studies. The third or (or fourth) elective may come from either the Literature or Liberal Studies stream. Full listings are on our website at: Subject. Click on subjects for a listing of elective.
If you prefer an alternative to classroom instruction,
some of our subjects are offered online
over the Internet.
You may be able to use credits from other college or
university courses to satisfy these requirements. Pick
up an Advanced Standing form
from the Registration Office and follow the instructions on our website.
Be sure to use Seneca’s on-line registration
system called SIRIS. SIRIS will tell you whether you need to
add an English or Liberal Studies subject to your
timetable and which subjects are currently available. Login at http://www.senecac.on.ca/. Register early
to make sure you have the greatest selection possible!
TIP:
Use our website as a planning tool to preview subjects for the next semester and to build your timetable before your SIRIS registration date.
