REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SCHOOL OF INFORMATION & COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY

If your program is CPD, CPA, CPAC, CNS, CTY, you will need to have EAC150, APC100, EAC397, and 3 electives to graduate. Your future employers highly value what they call the “employability skills” (written and oral communication, interpersonal, critical thinking skills) and general knowledge that these subjects help you to develop. But you will also appreciate the breadth of perspective that this mix of prescribed and elective courses will add to your Seneca education.

The 6 credit subjects are as follows:
 EAC150 College English
 APC100 Applied Professional Communications
Elective* Choose a literature elective (EAC or SES)
Elective Choose a liberal studies elective
Elective Choose a literature* or liberal studies elective
EAC397* Business Communications for Computer Students
* EAC150 is a prerequisite. See prerequisites below.
To enhance success take EAC397 as your last credit when your writing skills are strongest. Choose your electives from a variety of disciplines.

Once you have been accepted as a Seneca student, you will take an English Skills Assessment. This will determine if you are:

  • required to take EAC150 College English, or
  • required to take EAC149 English and Communication before you can take EAC150, or
  • required to take EAP300 or EAP330 before you can take EAC149 and EAC150, or
  • granted exemption with credit from EAC150

Note: If there is no English subject on your first-semester timetable, see your English & Liberal Studies Coordinator urgently!

Here are sample paths for 6- semester programs based on English placement in either EAC150 or EAC149.

For either 4- or 6- semester programs, we recommend taking EAC397 as your last credit when your writing skills are strongest.
