These evocative images represent students'
efforts at Miksang Photography (Miksang meaning "good
eye" in Tibetan).
Through a series of basic assignments, the students
focus attention on basic components of visual perception,
light, colour, line, texture, pattern and simplicity
of form. Contemplative photography bridges aesthetics
with the ideals of meditation. Awareness of the 'present
moment', attention to detail and finding beauty in the
mundane come together in new perceptual appreciation
of our environment.
These images are from a selection of photographs that
will be on display at the Stephen E. Quinlan Building,
Seneca@York Campus to inaugurate the new display area
on the second floor, overlooking the Learning Commons.
